F-35 vs Rafale F-5: Which is the game changer jet of war?
News Desk. Two fighter jets often remain in the headlines for boosting the strength of the world’s major air forces – the American F‑35 Lightning II and the French Rafale F‑5. Both are modern multirole fighters, but there is a difference in their strength and fighting style.
Stealth vs Payload:
The F‑35 is a 5th generation stealth fighter with low radar visibility and advanced sensors. Its design has been made to mark the enemy area first and attack from stealth. At the same time, Rafale F‑5 is a 4.5th generation jet, whichBeing designed to have capabilities equivalent to or better than 5th generation fighter aircraft.
Role of War:
The F‑35 is specifically designed for “BVR” (Beyond Visual Range) warfare and network‑centric operations. The main advantage of the Rafale F‑5 is its multi-role capability – air, sea and land strike capability. It may be better than the F-35 in dogfight (close combat).
Real‑time experience:
The existing Rafale has shown excellent performance in many real-world missions, such as Operation Vermillion in the Middle East and Libya. At the same time, F‑35 has been deployed in the air forces of many countries till now and due to its stealth capabilities, it gives a strategic edge in war.
Cost and operations:
The F‑35 is expensive and heavy to maintain, while the Rafale has low operating costs and is considered a cost-effective option. For this reason many countries are choosing Rafale, where budget and multi-role operations are primary.
