Stock Market Today: Stock markets fall for the second consecutive day, Sensex-Nifty at lower levels
Mumbai. Selling dominated domestic stock markets in early trade on Tuesday amid rising trade tensions globally. BSE’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex opened 38.80 points lower at 83,207.38. At the time of writing, it was down 341.10 points (0.41 percent) at 82,905.08 points compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the Nifty-50 index of the National Stock Exchange opened 5.20 points down at 25,580.30 points.
At the time of writing the news, it also fell by 128.25 points or 0.50 percent and stood at 25,457.25 points. Earlier, there was a decline in the market on Monday also. There is more pressure on medium and small companies today. Indices of all sectors are currently in the red.
More selling was seen in companies of IT, auto, pharma, realty, health, consumer durables, oil and gas and chemicals groups. HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Eternal, Infosys and Maruti Suzuki were the major contributors to the Sensex fall, while shares of ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India and Hindustan Unilever remained on the rise.
