Government’s big gift for forest dwellers, Charan Paduka scheme started again

Chhattisgarh News: In Chhattisgarh, the government is continuously running public welfare schemes for the tendu leaf collecting families, due to which they are getting economic and social security. 80 percent of the amount received from tendu leaf collection, facilities like scholarship for children, health assistance, accident insurance and minimum support price on forest produce are improving their income and standard of living. Remuneration of Rs 5500 per standard bag and additional benefits are also being given under Rajmohini Devi Scheme in the state.

Charanpaduka scheme started again, big relief to forest dwellers

Chhattisgarh government has restarted the Charanpaduka scheme in the interest of forest dwellers and tendu leaf collectors. This scheme was discontinued earlier, but was re-implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. This decision reflects the thinking of the poor and forest dweller friendly government. Under the guidance of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, the Forest Department has implemented this scheme with speed and transparency.

12.40 lakh families got direct benefits

In the year 2024-25, high quality charanapadukas were given to the female heads of 12.40 lakh tendu leaf collecting families of the state. The government spent about Rs 40 crore for this. This has provided foot protection and ease of work to women working in difficult conditions in the forests.

Chhattisgarh News: Male collectors will also get Charanpaduka in 2026

The government has decided to increase the scope of this scheme. In the year 2026, male tendu leaf collectors will also be given Charanpaduka. A budget of Rs 50 crore has been kept for this. This decision will prove to be beneficial for the collector families in the long run.

Purchased from Gem portal, entire process transparent

The purchase of Charanapadukas has been done through GeM portal, due to which the entire process remained clean and corruption free. The Charanpadukas delivered are of good quality and come with one year warranty. This clearly shows the quality of the government and its responsibility towards the beneficiaries.

There is an atmosphere of happiness in the forest areas due to this decision of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap. The Charanpaduka scheme is not only providing security and convenience to the tendu leaf collectors but is also giving them respect and confidence. This scheme has emerged as an important initiative of the state government in the direction of good governance and Antyodaya.
