Israel’s big attack on UN! Bulldozer fired on UNRWA office in East Jerusalem, created panic
Israel UNRWA Bulldozer Action: The confrontation between Israel and the United Nations has reached a new level amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East. At around 7 am on Tuesday, Israeli security forces entered the compound of the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem and fired a bulldozer. In this action, many big and small structures of the agency have been razed to the ground.
How was the action taken?
According to UNRWA spokesman Jonathan Fowler, Israeli security forces entered the compound in the morning and were the first to evacuate the security guards stationed there. Soon after, bulldozers were brought in amid heavy security and demolition of the buildings began. These buildings once housed dozens of workers and housed relief supplies for Gaza and the West Bank.
Different claims of Israel and UN
Israel says that this action has been taken under Israeli and international law. The Jerusalem Municipality claims that UNRWA had not paid property taxes. However, UNRWA rejected these claims, calling the action a ‘blatant and deliberate disregard’ of international law. Have agreed. The United Nations believes that this is an attempt by Israel to completely destroy the agency.
What is this controversy?
Relations between Israel and UNRWA have long been tense. In October 2024, the Israeli Parliament passed a law banning UNRWA from working in the country. Israel alleges that some employees of this agency were associated with Hamas and were involved in the attacks of 7 October 2023. Israeli officials had already announced plans to cut off electricity and water to the agency’s bases.
