Bangladesh government took the final decision on T20 World Cup, Scotland’s lottery was held!

T20 World Cup 2026 : ICC had set a deadline of January 21 for Bangladesh Cricket Board to think about T20 World Cup 2026. But Asif Nazrul, sports advisor to the Bangladesh government, indicated on Tuesday that they are not ready to change their stance on playing in India. This makes it clear that Scotland, who are the highest-ranked team not to qualify for the World Cup, will take part in the tournament in their place.

According to reports, ICC has set a deadline of January 21 to resolve this matter as they are short on time. If they had to take Scotland instead of Bangladesh. “I don’t know if Scotland will be included in our place (in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup),” Asif Nazrul told reporters on Tuesday. He further said, “If the ICC bows to the pressure of the Indian cricket board and tries to put pressure on us by imposing unfair conditions, we will not accept those conditions.” During this, he also rejected the speculations that Scotland could play the World Cup instead of Bangladesh.

“There have been instances in the past where Pakistan had said they would not go to India and the ICC had changed the venue,” Nazrul said. He further said, “We have asked for change of venue on logical grounds and we cannot be forced to play in India by putting unreasonable pressure on us.” Let us tell you that Bangladesh is refusing to play in India citing security reasons, and they have asked ICC to shift their matches to co-host Sri Lanka.
