Is BCCI going to end the ‘superstardom’ status of Rohit-Virat? Gambhir’s ‘mission’ will be approved in the central contract!
BCCI May Remove A+ Category In Central Contract: The head coach of Team India has always been talking about ending ‘superstar culture’ in Indian cricket. Now news is coming that the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has recommended changes in the central contract of BCCI. According to media reports, Agarkar wants the A+ category to be removed.
Will there be only 3 categories now?
If the BCCI approves it after discussion in the next Apex Council meeting, it will mean that only 3 categories will be left – A, B and C. At present, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are in the A+ category. The price of A Plus contract is Rs 7 crore. Grade A, B and C players get Rs 5 crore, Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.
Will Ro-Ko’s stardom end?
If the proposed model is approved, then India’s one-format players Rohit and Kohli can be kept in Category B. However, it is not clear what the fees for each category will be. In such a situation, it is natural to raise the question whether this development is happening at the behest of head coach Gautam Gambhi, because he wants to end the ‘superstar culture’ in Team India.
