Central government gave good news: Pension will be available even after retirement
New Delhi. The Central Government has taken a big decision and given relief news for lakhs of poor and unorganized sector workers. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was approved that Atal Pension Yojana (APY) will be continued till the year 2030-31. This means that people included in this scheme will be able to avail the benefit of fixed pension every month even after retirement.
What is Atal Pension Yojana?
The objective of Atal Pension Yojana is to provide pension facilities to those laborers and employees who are not connected to any formal pension system. Depending on the contribution to the scheme, a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 is available after the age of 60 at the time of retirement. This scheme ensures economic security especially for the workers of villages and small towns and makes them self-reliant in old age.
History and scope of the scheme
Atal Pension Yojana was launched on 9 May 2015. Since then this scheme gradually became popular across the country. Till January 19, 2026, more than 8.66 crore people are connected to this scheme. The government is continuously taking steps to promote it, increase awareness and make it economically strong.
Government support and future
As per the Cabinet decision, the government will continue to provide financial support to the scheme to run it in the long run and will continue to spread awareness to make it effective. Its objective is to ensure that workers and people in the unorganized sector remain financially secure even after their retirement.
