Dangerous game of RCC and asphalting

Lalapur, Prayagraj. As soon as the construction work of Ghurpur to Pratappur road under Bara tehsil of Yamunanagar region started, it has been embroiled in controversies. In the name of road construction, such carelessness is being taken that this road is no longer a development center but is becoming a center of accidents. Ballast is falling on the road from vehicles engaged in construction, due to which the lives of pedestrians and drivers are in constant danger. The most surprising thing is that the contractor is leaving half-built roads at many places.

Somewhere there is RCC road, somewhere there is asphalt, and somewhere there is only gravel – due to which the balance of the drivers is getting disturbed. If the road construction had been done evenly and continuously, then perhaps accidents would not have occurred. The result of this negligence was seen on Wednesday, when a businessman’s bike went out of control and overturned while climbing the RCC road, just a short distance from Lalapur intersection. It was fortunate that the businessman escaped safely, but this accident raises a big question on the gross negligence of the contractor and the quality of construction. Asphalting work of the road from Pratappur to Paduwan is going on, but the drain built on the side of the road – which is approved and passed in the plan – is not being built deliberately. Due to this there is huge anger among the villagers. People say that due to non-construction of drain, there will be waterlogging in future and the road will collapse within a few days. Local villagers allege that neither the responsible officers of the Public Works Department are speaking up nor the junior engineers are taking any concrete action in the face of the arbitrariness of the contractor.

Due to the same shortcomings, the road construction work was interrupted a few days ago, but as soon as it started again, the same carelessness and neglect have come to the fore again. Now the biggest question is whether Public Works Department officials and junior engineers are inspecting on the spot. Will any action be taken against the contractor who ignores the standards? Or will those responsible wake up only after a major accident? Villagers and passers-by have demanded that a high-level investigation of the road construction work should be done, the responsibility of the contractor should be fixed and the entire work including the drain should be done as per the standards, so that this road saves people’s lives and does not put them in danger.
