News India Live, Digital Desk: But, now the country’s main opposition party i.e. Congress has started taunting the Prime Minister regarding this friendship. Congress alleges that former US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made fun of Prime Minister Modi and India’s trade policies in recent times, but the central government is completely silent on this.

What is the matter? Why is Congress angry?
Actually, this controversy started when Donald Trump, during the election campaign in America, described India’s tax system and trade tariffs as ‘unjust’. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has claimed that Trump has not once or twice, but till now almost 70 times Have taken a dig at or made fun of Prime Minister Modi and India’s policies.

Congress has raised the question that why is the Prime Minister, who has the image of a strong and ‘roaring like a lion’ leader, so defensive on Trump’s statements? Congress also reminded that Trump was called a ‘friend’ during the election campaign, but now the same friend is bent upon calling India a ‘trade thief’.

The conflict between friendship and diplomacy
The matter is not limited to just words. As America’s presidential elections approach, the atmosphere there has become a bit tense regarding a big economy like India. Trump says that India imposes very high taxes on American goods and if he comes to power, he will give a strong reply to it.

From here Congress got an opportunity. The opposition says that when Trump is attacking the self-respect of the Prime Minister and the business interests of the country, the government should respond with stones. ‘Staying silent’ may be a sign of a weak country, but not of today’s new India.

Political earthquake and future signs
People are expressing their opinions in this debate on X (Twitter). Some say that Trump often does such ‘stunts’ in the election campaign and it has no effect on diplomatic relations. At the same time, Congress supporters believe that the Prime Minister’s silence shows that perhaps our relations with America are not as strong as is claimed in the media.

What is your opinion?
Is it right to give so much importance to the words spoken during elections? Or do you think that a self-respecting country should take a firm stand on every small and big insult?
