Chainlink expands on-chain data with 24/5 US stock and ETF streams
Chainlink is rolling out a major upgrade to its on-chain data offerings. The blockchain will now support 24/5 trading data for US stocks and ETFs, covering every trading session. This includes regular market hours, pre-market, post-market, and overnight sessions. The aim is to bring the roughly $80 trillion US equities market onto blockchain networks.
DeFi protocols will now have access to continuous, high-quality market data. Previously, on-chain apps could only use single price points during standard trading hours. This created gaps and extra risk for products like synthetic stocks, derivatives, and lending protocols. With 24/5 streams, those blind spots are gone.
The new feeds go beyond simple price information. They include bid and ask prices, last traded prices, trading volumes, and mid prices. Developers can also access market status flags for pre-market, regular, post-market, or overnight sessions. Staleness indicators alert protocols if data is outdated.
This allows DeFi applications to implement better risk management and smarter trading logic. Products like perpetual contracts, synthetic equities, structured products, and collateralised lending can now operate more reliably. Bid-ask spreads and volume data improve risk calculations, margin requirements, and liquidation logic. The result is a safer, more efficient environment for both traders and developers.
Other platforms, including Lighter, BitMEX, ApeX, HelloTrade, Decibel, Monaco, Opinion Labs, and Orderly Network, have already integrated 24/5 US equities streams. Chainlink’s data is available across 40+ blockchains, giving developers wide access to critical market information.
This launch is part of Chainlink’s strategy to bridge traditional finance and DeFi. By bringing real-world equity data on-chain, it supports the growth of institutional-grade financial products in decentralised ecosystems. In the future, global markets could operate continuously, around the clock.
Each instrument includes multiple feeds for different session segments. Developers can combine these into a single continuous feed with safeguards against staleness or price dislocations. The system handles billions of messages and secures trillions in on-chain value, ensuring reliability for applications that depend on accurate, timely data.
The expansion of 24/5 equities data is a big step for Chainlink and the broader DeFi world. It moves the US stock and ETF markets closer to a fully on-chain, always-on trading ecosystem. Continuous, structured data now gives decentralised protocols the tools to manage complex financial instruments more efficiently.
