Davos opens new avenues for investment and partnerships for Jharkhand; Hemant Soren receives investment invitations from these companies
Davos/Ranchi. Jharkhand has established a strong presence at the World Economic Forum, demonstrating its commitment to investment, partnerships, and inclusive growth. Led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren , the state delegation held key meetings with global industrialists and social organizations, connecting Jharkhand with new opportunities in agriculture, forestry, industry, health, and education.
Partnership with Lulu Group: Global Market for Farmers and SHGs
Yusuf Ali, Founder and Managing Director of Lulu Group , met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren . Discussions focused on marketing Jharkhand’s agriculture-based products, forest produce, and products manufactured by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through Lulu Group’s global retail network . Lulu Group expressed interest in incorporating Jharkhand’s products into its value chain and indicated its support for capacity building, quality standardization, and supply-chain strengthening in the state. It was agreed that a high-level delegation from Lulu Group would soon visit Jharkhand to study and assess potential opportunities. The state aims to become Lulu Group’s primary supplier , thereby enhancing the incomes of farmers, forest-based livelihood communities, and SHG women.
Welspun World proposes to invest ₹300 crore
Davos marked another major milestone in industrial development. A high-level meeting between Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Welspun World Founder and Chairman B.K. Goenka resulted in a proposal for an investment of approximately ₹300 crore for a PVC-based plastics industry in Jharkhand . The state delegation shared information about the proposed plastics park in Deoghar. A Welspun team will soon visit Jharkhand for site inspection and detailed studies. The company also expressed interest in investment opportunities in the critical minerals and logistics sectors . Discussions were held on the Dhanbad Logistics Park and statewide warehousing and storage facilities, and an agreement was reached to maintain ongoing dialogue. This initiative will accelerate job creation and the industrial ecosystem.

Vision 2050 receives support: Azim Premji’s appreciation
At the World Economic Forum, Jharkhand presented its Vision 2050 , focusing on ” development in harmony with nature .” Azim Premji , former Chairman of Wipro Limited and current Chairman of the Azim Premji Foundation , expressed his appreciation for this. He stated that the Jharkhand government’s approach is serious, organized, and long-term. The Foundation is establishing a university, a 1,300-bed hospital, a medical college, and a school in Itki, Ranchi—a major investment in education and health. He urged investors to explore opportunities in Jharkhand and wished the state a bright future.
Steps towards inclusive development
These meetings in Davos clearly demonstrate that Jharkhand is winning the trust of investors on the global stage. Global recognition for agricultural and forest products, industrial investment, logistics strengthening, and major projects in the social sector—all these initiatives point to the state’s progress toward inclusive, sustainable, and employment-oriented development.
