WPL 2026: Why was Lizelle Lee given out during DC vs MI — Third umpire decision explained

Delhi Capitals batter Lizelle Lee was given out after a lengthy third umpire check during the Women’s Premier League 2026 match against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday in Vadodara.

The South African looked unhappy with the decision as she walked back to the dugout, falling after a brisk 46 off 28 in her side’s chase of 155 runs.

In the 11th over of the game, Amanjot Kaur bowled a wide down the leg which was collected by wicketkeeper Rahila Firdaus. However, Lee was outside her crease and despite her best attempt to drag her bat in, she was stumped out.

The third umpire’s decision needed a long examination because there was a delay between the bails coming off and the LED on the bails lighting up.

Because of this, from a side-on replay check, it appeared Lee had grounded her bat in time, i.e. when the bails lit up.

However, a check from the front camera revealed a fraction of a second delay between the bails coming off and the bails lighting up. Lee’s bat was still in the air when the bails were actually taken off the stumps by Rahila.

Hence, the third umpire, Ajitesh Argal, favoured the bowling team and gave the marching orders to Lee.
