Big relief to former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in 1984 anti-Sikh riots, court acquitted him in this case

Sajjan Kumar News: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has acquitted former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case related to the violence in Janakpuri and Vikaspuri areas during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Two people died in this incident of violence.
During the hearing, Sajjan Kumar said in his defense that he was innocent and never participated in this violence, nor did he have any involvement in it even in his dreams. He said, “There is no concrete evidence against me.” After a long time, today the court gave him relief. When Sajjan Kumar was informed about his acquittal, he thanked the court with folded hands.
What was the whole matter?
In February 2015, SIT had registered two FIRs against Sajjan Kumar. These FIRs were registered on the basis of complaints related to the 1984 riots in Janakpuri and Vikaspuri areas. The first FIR was related to the violence in Janakpuri, where Sohan Singh and his son-in-law Avtar Singh were murdered on 1 November 1984. The second FIR was related to the Vikaspuri incident, in which Gurcharan Singh was burnt alive on 2 November 1984. Although Sajjan Kumar has been acquitted in this case, he will still have to remain in jail as he has already been sentenced to life imprisonment in two other cases related to the 1984 riots.
Anti-Sikh riots of 1984
Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards on 31 October 1984. After this, large-scale violence against Sikhs broke out in Delhi and many other cities. This violence lasted for about 3-4 days, in which Sikh houses were burnt, shops were looted and many Sikhs were killed.

According to government figures, about 2800 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and more than 3000 in the entire country, while in some reports this number is said to be 8 thousand to 17 thousand. According to many reports, some leaders and police also helped in these riots. This incident was extremely painful for the Sikh community and is considered a dark chapter in Indian history.
