Chaibasa There was information about a fierce encounter between security forces and Maoists in Saranda forest of Chaibasa on Thursday morning. Many Maoists are reported to have been killed in this encounter. The encounter took place in Chotanagra police station area.

According to the information received, senior officers of CRPF and Jharkhand Police had received secret information about the presence of big Maoists in Saranda forest. After this input, a joint team of Cobra Jharkhand Jaguar and District Police conducted a search operation. As the security forces approached the Maoists, they started firing indiscriminately. After this the security forces started retaliating. Seeing the security forces overwhelmed, some Maoists managed to escape and some were shot.
