According to the website of Dhar district administration, Raja Bhoj (1000-1055 AD), the greatest ruler of the Parmar dynasty, established a college in Dhar, which later came to be known as Bhojshala. Students used to come there for education. This Bhojshala or Saraswati temple was later converted into a mosque by the Muslim ruler. Its remains can still be seen in the famous Kamal Maulana Mosque.
