Vigpition of Rajamauli in the opening scene of ‘Bahubali’
New Delhi. SS Rajamouli’s film ‘Baahubali – The Beginning’ not only bombed at the box office in 2015, but also became a cult hit. Many difficulties were faced during the production of this film. But Rajamouli left no stone unturned to realize his vision. He spent Rs 5 crore for a particular scene, which could have been easily used with the help of VFX. But Rajamouli gave priority to authenticity.
Searching for the perfect view
Interestingly, the scene for which such a huge budget was spent was only 8 minutes long. This scene was included in the opening scene of the film, in which Prabhas was seen jumping from a waterfall. Rajamouli visited waterfalls across the country, but did not get the view as per his expectations.
making your own waterfall
Eventually, Rajamouli decided to create a waterfall himself in his setup. With the help of 25 crew members, he built a 100 feet set at Ramoji Film City. More than half of the footage on this set was kept original, while the rest was covered with green screen. Under this setup, 33 liters of water was sprayed per second, giving Prabhas the experience of a real waterfall. In total, 2000 liters of water was used every minute.
India’s largest green screen set
With this, this setup was known as the largest green screen set in India at that time. The jump that you see from Prabhas in the film was actually done by him. Thus, it cost Rs 5 crore to cast this 8-minute scene. Rajamouli is considered among those Bollywood directors who make every possible effort for perfection in their films.
