Fire in cotton-handicraft warehouse in Nagaur, loss worth lakhs
A fire broke out in a cotton and handicraft warehouse in Vyas Colony, Nagaur. The fire, which started from a short circuit, was brought under control in 90 minutes. No one died, but there was loss worth lakhs of rupees.
Rajasthan: There was a short circuit in the air conditioner installed on the second floor of Kailash Aggarwal’s three-storey house in Vyas Colony of Nagaur city. The fire spread rapidly and reached the cotton, plastic and handicraft warehouse located on the third floor. Due to the presence of inflammable material, the flames became very strong and started spreading to the neighboring houses.
Seeing the flames, the neighbors immediately raised an alarm and pulled out the family living in the house. No one died due to this.
Fire brigade brought it under control in 90 minutes
On receiving the information, two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. Rescue operations became difficult due to narrow streets and crowd. The fire was brought under control after about one and a half hour of hard work.
A heavy compressor was also kept in the warehouse. If the fire had reached it and burst, it would have posed a major threat to the entire area. A major accident was averted as the fire was extinguished in time.
Concern among neighbors and local people
Neighbor Sunil Gaur told that at 10:30 pm he saw flames from the window. He immediately warned the family and got the electricity switched off. According to Sunil, if there was a delay of 10 more minutes, at least 10 houses could have been caught in the fire.
Local people raised questions on the security and administrative monitoring of the house. It was told that there was no fire safety equipment in the warehouse. Apart from this, people are also angry when a cotton and handicraft warehouse is being operated in a residential area.
