A case of 16 Indians being held as hostage laborers on the Myanmar-Thailand border came to light.

New Delhi. A case has come to light in which 16 Indians, who were taken fraudulently in the name of employment, were held hostage somewhere on the Thailand-Myanmar border and made to do bonded labour.

All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi gave this information on his handle on Twitter on Thursday and requested External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to intervene in the matter and ensure the return of all Indian citizens.

Owaisi wrote on his X handle that he has received a sad news that 16 Indian citizens, including three persons from Hyderabad, are in captivity somewhere on the Myanmar-Thailand border. They were brought here on the pretext of taking them to Thailand with the promise of a job. There they are being forced to work for 18 to 20 hours. They are being physically tortured. His passport and phone have been taken away and he is being denied medical facilities.

He said that he got this information from Sajjad Ali. He is a resident of Osman Nagar, Hyderabad. They are currently stranded on the Myanmar-Thailand border. The other two along with him are residents of Maula Ali and Banjara Hills.

Owaisi requested the Foreign Minister to intervene, saying, “Please intervene immediately to save all Indians.”
