Hyderabad: JioHotstar, India’s largest premium entertainment platform, has announced an updated subscription structure for new subscribers, effective January 28, 2026. As part of the update, the platform is introducing monthly plans across its Mobile, Super and Premium tiers, aimed at enhancing accessibility and offering viewers greater flexibility in how they consume content.
The revised pricing strategy reflects a growing shift in consumer behaviour towards connected TV and large-screen viewing. While monthly plans are being introduced across tiers, JioHotstar will continue to offer quarterly and annual options as well, enabling users to choose plans that best suit their viewing habits.
According to the company, the move is designed to cater both to individuals streaming on mobile devices and to families seeking premium entertainment experiences on connected TVs. Large-screen consumption on JioHotstar has witnessed significant growth over the past 11 months since launch, and the updated pricing is intended to support this evolving demand.
Under the new structure, Hollywood content will be included for new subscribers in the Super and Premium tiers. Mobile-only users will continue to have access to Hollywood programming through a flexible add-on, allowing viewers to customise their subscriptions based on personal preferences.
JioHotstar clarified that existing subscribers will not be impacted by the changes. Users currently on active plans will continue at the same price and benefits, provided auto-renewal remains enabled.
The announcement comes at a key milestone for the platform. JioHotstar has crossed one billion downloads on Google Play and currently serves over 450 million monthly active users across 100% of India’s pin codes. With a content library exceeding 300,000 hours across multiple languages and genres, the platform is among a small group globally operating at this scale.
Commenting on the update, Sushant Sreeram, Head – SVOD Business and Chief Marketing Officer at JioStar, said the revised subscription framework aligns with changing audience preferences. He added that the update brings greater flexibility and choice while supporting continued investment in premium storytelling, live sports and high-quality streaming experiences across devices.
