Inauguration of ‘ECInet’ an integrated digital platform! Investment commission will be more transparent?
The Election Commission of India has launched an integrated digital platform ‘ECINET’ to enhance transparency, efficiency and citizen confidence in the electoral process. This ambitious platform was launched on the occasion of India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM)-2026. The three-day conference has been organized from 21st to 23rd January 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

‘ECINET’ has been created from the concept of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. This project has been developed in collaboration with Vivek Joshi. The development of this platform was officially announced in May 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the platform ‘ECInet’ has been developed within the framework of the Indian Constitution and election laws. It is available in 22 scheduled languages as well as English, making it more accessible and inclusive for citizens. He also urged the election management bodies of various countries to collaborate with India to develop similar digital platforms as per their local laws and languages.
Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu stated that ‘ECInet’ will increase transparency in the electoral process, speed up the decision-making process and strengthen public confidence in the electoral machinery. Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi said that this international conference will give the electoral bodies an opportunity to understand global best practices in the field of technology and digital innovation.
Director General of Information Technology Department Dr. Seema Khanna during the presentation explained that cyber security is the main pillar of ‘ECINET’. Today, technology has become a strategic enabler rather than just a supporting tool, he said, adding that this platform will increase credibility and efficiency in the electoral process.
‘ECINET’ is considered to be the world’s largest election services digital platform, integrating more than 40 apps and portals of the Election Commission of India. The platform has been developed in full compliance with the Constitution of India, Representation of the People Act 1950 and 1951, Registration of Voters Rules 1960 and Election Conduct Rules 1961.
Through this system citizens, candidates, political parties and election officials are connected on a single secure digital platform. Various services like voter registration, voter list search, application status check, candidate information, e-EPIC download, call booking with BLO, voter trend and grievance redressal are available here.

The beta version of ‘ECINET’ was successfully used during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and a special intensive verification process. So far, more than 10 crore applications have been processed through this platform, with an average of 2.7 lakh applications being handled every day. More than 11 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been registered and more than 150 crore documents have been digitized, the Election Commission of India has informed through a press release.
