Shock to Sydney Sixers before Challenger match, Babar Azam left the club
Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam will no longer be able to play for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Even before the Challenger match against Hobart Hurricanes, it has become clear that he has been recalled to the Pakistan national team for the preparations for the upcoming T20 International series against Australia and the T20 World Cup to be held thereafter.
Speculations about Babar’s availability put to an end
This match was very important for the Sixers to reach the finals, but all the ongoing speculations regarding Babar’s availability have now come to an end. In fact, before this important match, there was a demand to drop Babar from the team, but now the situation is clear that the former Pakistani captain will not be a part of the remaining matches of BBL under any circumstances.
Sydney Sixers confirmed this on social media and said that Babar has been recalled due to international commitments and he will not be available for the remaining matches of the BBL Final Series. Recently, Babar Azam was also in the news regarding a controversy. During the match against Sydney Thunder, Babar’s anger was clearly visible when Steve Smith refused to take an easy run. The matter had escalated so much that even team captain Moises Henriques later had to admit that it took some time to reduce the tension in the dressing room.
How was Babar’s performance in the BBL season?
This BBL season of Babar was not special in terms of performance also. He scored a total of 202 runs in 11 innings, in which his average was 22.44 and strike rate was 103.06. Although he scored two half-centuries, he was out only in single digits in five innings. As a top international level batsman, these figures are not considered to be as per his standards.
Now Babar’s entire focus will be on the Pakistan national team. Before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan has to play a three-match T20 International series against Australia, which will start from January 29. Babar will join the national camp before this series. It is believed that his selection in the T20 World Cup team is almost certain. Although the recent T20 form has been a matter of concern, but Pakistan will hope that Babar will regain his rhythm in the series against Australia and give strength to the team.
