Tragic accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, army vehicle falls into ditch, 10 soldiers lost their lives.


New Delhi. An army vehicle went out of control and fell into a ditch in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. In this accident, 10 army soldiers lost their lives while 10 others were injured. This accident happened at Khanni Top on Bhaderwah-Chamba Interstate Road. There was a bulletproof army vehicle in which the soldiers were going to a post built in a high altitude area. On the way, the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into a 200 feet deep gorge. As soon as information about the incident was received, local police and army personnel reached there and started the rescue operation.

The injured soldiers have been sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. Since the condition of three soldiers is critical, they have been referred to the Army Hospital in Udhampur. Critically injured soldiers are being airlifted to the hospital. Bodies of 10 soldiers have been recovered from the incident site. After the accident, the local people were the first to reach there and informed the administration about it. Local people also cooperated in relief and rescue operations. An investigation has been ordered by the Army to find out the cause of this accident. Information is also being sent to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives.

While saddened by the death of 10 soldiers in this accident, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that we will always remember the excellent service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. Expressing his deep condolences to the bereaved families, he said that in this hour of deep sorrow, the entire country stands in full solidarity with the bereaved families. The LG has directed senior officers to ensure the best possible treatment of the injured soldiers and prayed for their speedy recovery.
