Varanasi22 January. Under the second phase of Anand Chandola Media Sports Mahotsav, the 38th Dinanath Gupta Memorial Badminton, Vishwanath Singh ‘Daddu’ Memorial Table Tennis and Chess and Carrom events started on Thursday at Ishwarchandra Sinha Multipurpose Auditorium of Paradkar Smriti Bhawan.
In these sports events organized under the aegis of Varanasi Press Club run by Kashi Journalist Association, Pankaj Tripathi and Sandeep Gupta made it to the semi-finals of badminton and carrom. In the first phase of the festival, the 38th Kanishkadev Gorawala Memorial Media Cricket Competition was concluded at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium last month.
Sandeep, Shankar, Santosh and Chandan jointly on top in chess
Whereas in chess, Sandeep Gupta, Shankar Chaturvedi, Santosh Chaurasia and Chandan Rupani are jointly on top. District Chess Association secretaries Vijay Kumar, Dinesh Dutt Pathak and Ashok Kumar Pandey played the role of judges.

Rohit and Chandraprakash also in semi-finals of carrom
In carrom matches, Sandeep Gupta defeated Uzair Khan, Rohit Chaturvedi defeated KB Rawat, Chandraprakash defeated Chandan Rupani and Pankaj Tripathi defeated Arun Malviya and entered the semi-finals. The matches were conducted by Ashwani Chakrawal, Jamunaghar Gupta, Sandeep Yadav and Shoaib Raza under the supervision of international referee Ramesh Verma.

On the other hand, Prashant Mohan, Chandan Rupani, Pankaj Tripathi and Sandeep Gupta made it to the last four of badminton singles. According to sports coordinator Krishna Bahadur Rawat, apart from the semi-final matches of badminton and carrom, matches of chess and table tennis will be played on Friday from 10.30 am.

Before this, chief guest Mahir Madhok, Additional Director of Dalims Sunbeam Group of Schools, inaugurated the Media Sports Mahotsav by garlanding the pictures of Dinanath Gupta and Vishwanath Singh ‘Daddu’ and lighting the lamp. The guests were welcomed by Kashi Journalist Association President Arun Mishra while Press Club President Chandan Rupani presented the vote of thanks. Sangh General Secretary Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, Press Club Minister Vinay Shankar Singh and Treasurer Sandeep Gupta presented bouquets and Angavastram to the chief guest. On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Carrom Association President Baijnath Singh, Dr. Raghuraj Singh, former Association President Yogesh Kumar Gupt, KDN Rai, Subhash Chandra Singh, BB Yadav, Dr. Atri Bhardwaj, Laxmikant Dwivedi, R Sanjay, Kailash Yadav, Ajay Rai, Ashwani Srivastava, Omkar Tiwari, Devkumar Keshari, Arun Malviya, Sandeep Pandya, Sandeep Shukla, Omkarnath, Suresh Gandhi, Many media persons including Vimlesh Chaturvedi, Munna Lal Sahni, OP Rai Chaudhary, Dilip Kumar Sajay Gupta, Abhishek were present.
