Rapid Judge Transfers After Police Case Spark Big Questions Anuj Chaudhary Case AP Singh analysis

Sambhal CJM transfer controversy: In Sambhal, one of the sensitive districts of Uttar Pradesh, there is a lot of talk about the transfer of three Chief Judicial Magistrates (CJMs) one after the other within a few days or at a stormy pace. Someone behind this drama is the famous Deputy Superintendent of Police of Uttar Pradesh. Anuj Chaudhary The former CJM’s order to file a case against A&Co (Inspector Anuj Tomar and 10-15 other subordinate policemen) is considered to be the root of the real problem. At the same time, a section is considering it as part of the regular transfer process in the judicial service.
Sambhal’s lawyers are creating ruckus daily regarding this game of ‘transfer-transfer’. On the other hand, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath The chief of the opposition political party Samajwadi Party and the former Chief Minister of the state, who are not pleasing to the eyes of the BJP-led Bharatiya Janata Party government, seem to be intent on taking advantage of this issue by washing their hands and ‘cashing’ it in the flowing Ganga. With this argument or rather reproach that truth cannot be transferred.
This is how the tribulation began
Actually, this row started when on the night of 20 January 2026, Chief Judicial Magistrate Vibhanshu Sudhir, already posted here, was suddenly transferred. Right after that decision or should we say order, in which he had ordered to register a case against the high profile Deputy Superintendent of Police of the state Anuj Chaudhary, including Inspector Anuj Tomar and 10-15 other policemen. Meaning, as soon as CJM Vibhanshu Sudhir ordered to register a case against the police party, a section of the people assumed that this transfer order was done forcibly under political pressure, because the CJM had ordered to register a case against a Deputy Superintendent of Police close to the state government.
Rapid change of CJM
After CJM Vibhanshu Sudhir was transferred from Sambhal to Sultanpur, Aditya Singh was brought in his place. According to reports, Vibhanshu Sudhir has had 8 transfers so far in his 12-year career. In his place, Sambhal Aditya Singh was made Chief Judicial Magistrate from Senior Division Judge. Before Aditya Singh could see and understand his court in the capacity of CJM, another transfer order came from the Allahabad High Court on Thursday (22 January 2026) night, in which Aditya Singh was also removed and Deepak Kumar Jaiswal was made CJM in his place. Meaning, within three-four days, three CJMs were moved from one place to another in a small but very sensitive place like Sambhal. Citing regular changes in judicial and departmental administration.
The problem is here too
Aditya Singh, who was made the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sambhal from Senior Division Judge for a few hours, was removed and sent back to his old post. In his place, CJM Sambhal was appointed at number three, his name is Deepak Kumar Jaiswal. Amidst all these heated discussions, it is said about the newly appointed CJM Deepak Kumar Jaiswal that he is a native of Maharajganj district of UP and he has undergone about 16 departmental transfers in the last 11 years of judicial service.
Black lentils will work… the whole lentil is not black?
When in thousands of courts of the country, due to shortage of judges and abundance of cases, lakhs of cases are lying in the shelves of the courts gathering dust, then will the uproar of three CJMs one after the other in a small but very sensitive place like Sambhal in two-three days not break the morale of the judicial servants? Will this not adversely affect the judicial system? When asked about such questions, Read Hindi Editor Crime Investigation spoke exclusively to Dr. AP Singh, senior criminal lawyer present in the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi. He said that it is possible to have black pulses, but if the entire pulses are black, then how can anyone ignore them?
look at each case with a different eye
Dr. A.P. Singh said, “Look, the ruckus created in Sambhal regarding the CJM transfer, it should be seen from not just one, but from many aspects. Due to such quick transfers, there is a fear in the minds of the judges that they are not God. If they do something wrong, they can be changed from their current posting at any time. Secondly, its side effect is that the transfer of judges in 2-3 days can also make a mockery of the judicial service system. If there is any personal interest behind this, for example, if Vibhanshu Sudhir, who ordered the filing of a case against a police officer or a police team, was removed from his post overnight because he ordered the filing of a case against any police officer or officers, then this is a murder of the judicial service system. The way the lawyers of Sambhal Court are protesting there, they must have understood the entire reality, that is why they are bent on stopping the work.
