BCCI President Avoids Questions on Bangladesh WC Snub

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Mithun Manhas was asked about Bangladesh’s refusal to travel to India for the T20 World Cup. The former Delhi captain who faced multiple reporters at Swami Vivekananda Airport refused to speak about the situation. Bangladesh announced their decision to skip the tournament a day after the International Cricket Council denied their request to move their matches to a neutral site.
Manhas appeared in a viral video which showed him first refusing to answer reporters’ questions. He answered back to reporters who kept questioning him by saying “I have come here for the second T20I match in Raipur.”

BCB president Aminul Islam accused the ICC of double standards because they prevented Bangladesh from playing their World Cup matches at neutral sites while allowing India to host their 2025 Champions Trophy games in the UAE. The ICC organised a neutral venue for the Champions Trophy after a country refused to travel to another country. The team played all their Champions Trophy matches in that neutral venue. They played their games at a single field while staying at one hotel. Aminul Islam spoke about the situation which he considered a special opportunity to ESPNcricinfo.
Bangladesh will start their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on February 7 when they play against two-time champions West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata according to the current schedule.

According to the existing timetable Bangladesh will begin their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on February 7 against West Indies who are two-time champions.
The Litton Das-led team will compete against Italy on February 9 at the same stadium before facing England in Kolkata again. After their match against England Bangladesh will go to Mumbai for their game against Nepal which takes place at Wankhede Stadium.
