Mumbai Metro Line 9 Can Start In Late January (Dahisar To Mira Road)
This Tuesday, the Metro Line 9 connecting Dahisar East to Mira Road, received the final nod of approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).
Metro Line 9 Get Safety Clearance
The construction of the first phase of the line, which will extend Line 7 from Dahisar East to Andheri East will have four stations in its 4.5 km stretch, ending at Kashigaon in Mira Road.
These stations including Dahisar, Pandhurang Wadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon are aimed to ease the congestion on the Dahisar Checknaka stretch and the Western Express Highway.
Moving ahead, sources from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said, “Staff are being deployed on the prospective line, and training is ongoing.”
So far, an exact opening date is yet to be confirmed but they are expecting that the line may get inaugurated on Republic Day, by the end of January, or in early February.
It appears that the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has approved the opening of Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 9.
First Metro Connecting People Living In
Eastern Suburbs
There are plans to open this line along with Phase 1 of Metro Line 2B on the same day, likely in the first week of February, said the officials.
So far, Mumbai has four Metro routes in service, including Line 2A and Line 7, which run on the Dahisar-Gundavali-Andheri West corridor; Line 1 connecting Versova, Andheri, and Ghatkopar; and Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, which runs between Aarey JVLR and Cuffe Parade.
Now two more Metro links will be added to the city’s growing Metro network, with the proposed joint launch of Line 9 and Line 2B.
Out of these, Phase 1 of Metro Line 2B is 5.3 km long and runs between Diamond Garden and Mandale, according to the officials.
The good news is that this route has already received safety approval from the CMRS as it is an important legal requirement before beginning passenger services.
After this phase of Line 2B becomes operational, it will provide the first Metro connection for people living in the eastern suburbs, including Chembur.
Chembur is mainly connected to the island city through the Monorail presently.
When it comes to safety, the Phase 1 of Metro Line 9 has got its safety clearance for its launch as Line 9 is an important route in the north-western part of Mumbai.
