Ishan Kishan, SKY Fireworks Powers India’s 7-Wicket Victory Against New Zealand
A solid knock from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav has helped India to secure a 7-wicket victory against New Zealand on January 23 at Raipur.
With this win, the Men in Blues secured a 2-0 lead in the T20I series of the New Zealand tour of India 2026 and will aim to seal it with a win in the third T20I, which will be a Sunday clash.
After invited to bat first, New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Tim Seifert opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack.
The openers gave a decent start, scoring 43 runs for the first two wickets. With Rachin Ravindra giving stability in the lineup, the middle-order batters gave decent additions to the scoreboard.
Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell added 19 and 18 runs respectively, while Rachin Ravindra got dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 44 runs, and Mark Chapman got dismissed for 10 runs.
However, Mitchell Santnter gave some quick runs, adding 47* runs, while Zakary Foulkes added 15* runs, leaving New Zealand to score 208 runs in their 20-over innings.

Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets while Hardik Pandya, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube bagged one wicket each.
In the pursuit of chasing 209 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson opened the innings while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.
With Matt Henry picking the wicket of Samson for 6 runs, Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket on a golden duck to Jacob Duffy.
Despite a cheap start from openers, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav made an impressive partnership and exploded with aggressive shots, adding up 122 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Ishan Kishan scored 76 runs off 32 deliveries, which included 11 fours and 4 sixes. After his dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav turned to beast and completed the game along with Shivam Dube.
India went on to complete their chase on the 1st ball of the 16th over. Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten with 82 runs while Shivam Dube scored 35* runs off 17 deliveries.
India secured a stunning 7-wicket victory and secured a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series with three games remaining.
Ishan Kishan was named as the Player of the Match. The third match of the T20I series will be played on January 25 at Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati.
