Delhi: Woman roaming in high security areas wearing fake embassy number plate, caught by police; mobile phone confiscated

A serious matter related to national security has come to light in Delhi. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested a woman when she was roaming in the high security areas of the capital with an Innova car with a fake number plate of a foreign embassy. According to the police, the woman used to frequently visit many foreign embassies and sensitive areas. This arrest, which took place before Republic Day, is considered very important for the security agencies.

According to the information received from the police, on January 15, 2026, the Anti Extortion and Kidnapping Cell had received secret information that a woman was using a car with the number plate of a foreign embassy and was continuously moving between various embassy premises located in New Delhi. This information was received by the Anti Extortion and Kidnapping Cell of Delhi Police Crime Branch, Police Station Sunlight Colony.

Fake embassy number plate installed in the car

Based on the information a special team was formed. The team was told that the suspicious woman had been seen in Vasant Vihar area. After this the police team reached E Block, Vasant Vihar. There the information was further developed, which revealed that the woman had moved towards B Block. The police team found an Innova car parked in Street B-5 of B Block.

The police laid a trap there and started surveillance. At around 3.10 pm, a 45-year-old woman was seen coming towards the car. The woman opened the car with the keys in her hand and sat on the driving seat. As soon as she was about to start the car, the police team stopped her on the signal of the informer.

The woman was roaming around posing as an embassy representative

When the police asked the woman for the car’s papers and ownership documents, she identified herself as a representative of a foreign embassy. However, she could neither reveal the name of the embassy nor present any valid documents related to the car. After this, the woman and the car were brought to Anti Extortion and Kidnapping Cell, Sunlight Colony, where she was interrogated in detail.

During interrogation, the woman admitted that she was using a fake number plate of a foreign embassy. He told that he had purchased this Innova car from a foreign embassy in November 2024. But the vehicle was not registered in his name. Regarding this, the concerned embassy had also lodged a complaint against him in Chanakyapuri police station.

Conspiracy hatched for not registering

The woman told the police that after the complaint, she removed the original number plate of that embassy and got a fake number plate prepared that looked like a foreign embassy. The registration number 144 CD 54 was written on these number plates, which were made on the lines of Embassy vehicles. His objective was to avoid police investigation and to visit embassies and diplomatic areas without any restrictions.

Police investigation also revealed that a fake number plate of another foreign embassy was recovered from inside the car. That means the woman was using more than one fake number plate. Police believe that no bigger motive behind such activities can be ruled out.

National security agencies alert before Republic Day

The investigating agencies suspect that the woman tried to mislead the government agencies by posing as an embassy representative. Also his intentions have been found suspicious. In view of this apprehension, the police have registered a case under sections 318, 319, 337, 336, 340 and 61(2) of the Indian Justice Code 2023.

The profile of the accused woman is also shocking for the police. According to the police, the accused woman is a permanent resident of Assam and lives in Guwahati. he graduated. The woman describes herself as the All India Secretary of a political party for the last four years. Apart from this, she has also claimed that she has worked as a consultant in a foreign embassy for one year in the year 2023-24, where she was paid around Rs 1.5 lakh every month.

Mobile phones seized, thorough investigation into contacts and activities underway

The woman has also claimed that she has worked as a sports guide at the University of Science and Technology in Meghalaya and got paid for this too. Presently she was giving consultancy to foreign students, especially students from African countries, for admission in this university and was charging fees per student.

The police arrested the woman and took her on police remand for six days. His mobile phone has also been confiscated and the data contained in it is being thoroughly examined. Police say that the woman is being interrogated in detail and her contacts are also being investigated.

According to police officials, this matter is very sensitive in terms of national security in view of the Republic Day celebrations. The activities of the accused woman are being investigated from every angle, so that it can be found out whether she was involved in any criminal or anti-national activity along with anyone else.

The woman confessed to fraud during interrogation

The items recovered by the police so far in this case include an Innova car, a car with a fake number plate of a foreign embassy, ​​two additional fake number plates, a mobile phone and sale documents related to the Innova car. Police say that further investigation of the case is going on and if needed, other agencies can also be involved.
