Trump social media leak during Indiana CFP celebration
Setting his political acumen aside, President Donald Trump shook the sports world after leaking major NFL news on one of his social media handles.
The breaking news arrived immediately following the Indiana Hoosiers’ historic 27-21 victory against the Miami Hurricanes to secure their first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship.
Trump congratulated the team and urged the Giants to make the move. He wrote on Truth Social: “The New York Football Giants should hire, without question, John Harbaugh – And John, a great guy, should TAKE THE JOB!!!”
The president had previously posted, “HIRE JOHN HARBAUGH, FAST. HE, AND HIS BROTHER, ARE TOTAL WINNERS!!!”
Interestingly, the President confirmed the hiring news before any official statement from the team, stating to reporters, “They got a great coach. I like the coach. I like his brother; he’s a great coach and he’s gonna do well with the Giants.”
Following Trump’s leak, the Giants officially signed Harbaugh on January 20, 2026. After signing a five-year deal, the coach acknowledged the presidential push: “It feels really great. I also noticed on that post he said take the job, so I thought John Mara might’ve had something to do with that.”
