Dirty game in Mirzapur: Conversion racket busted under the guise of gym, pictures of 50+ women found in phones
Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh): Police has exposed the alleged conversion racket running under the cover of gym in Mirzapur. In the investigation, which started after a complaint registered on the women’s helpline 1090, the police found important digital evidence, on the basis of which six accused were arrested by raiding several gyms. A policeman is also among the arrested accused, while two other accused are said to be absconding.
According to the police, initial investigation based on a woman’s complaint did not reveal concrete evidence. After this Mohammad Sheikh Ali was called for questioning. When his mobile phone was searched during interrogation, a password-protected folder was found in it. The direction of the investigation changed when the folder was opened.
Important digital evidence found from mobile
Police say photographs and videos of more than 50 women were found in a password-protected folder. These included pictures related to trips, outings and marriages. In many photographs, women were seen wearing burqa and were present with the accused belonging to different gyms.
After digital evidence emerged, the police started a thorough investigation into the alleged network. Under this, raids were conducted on many gyms of Mirzapur—KGN 1, KGN 2.0, KGN 3, Iron Fire and Fitness Club. Six accused were arrested during the operation. Two accused Imran and Lucky are still absconding, on whom a reward of Rs 25,000 each has been announced and a lookout notice has been issued.
Many women gave information
According to the police, so far two women have lodged a formal complaint, while 25 to 30 women have narrated their ordeal to the police without revealing their identities. Investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly used to target women from affluent families.

Investigation revealed that the contact started with the lure of free gym training. During training, photographs of women were taken and then mobile numbers were exchanged. At first the conversation was limited to fitness, later it became personal. Police allege that after this, women were taken out on the pretext of outing and gradually an attempt was made to influence them.

According to the police, photographs and videos of the women were allegedly kept safe and later money was demanded through them. Allegations of pressurizing for conversion due to non-payment of money have also come to light.
SSP Somen Verma said that the links of the entire case were connected after the digital evidence found from the mobile phone. The vehicles used to transport the women have also been recovered. Police say that the investigation of the case is going on and the absconding accused are being searched.
