Actor Nikhil Siddharth has revealed the deep historical inspiration behind his upcoming period action film *Swayambhu*, a pan-India story directed by Bharat Krishnamachari and produced by Pixel Studios.
In an exclusive interview with Zee News Digital, Nikhil revealed that the story is derived from **Sengol**—an old Tamil symbol of right governance, justice and moral authority. “Swayambhu is taken from a very special aspect of Indian history: Sengol,” he said. “We know it from PM Narendra Modi carrying it during the inauguration of the new Parliament, but its roots go even deeper—it was first given by Lord Rama to his descendants and had significance in empires like the Cholas. We have created a fictional story around Sengol and our hero.”
The film serves as a brilliant tribute to India’s enduring heritage, mythology and cultural heritage, with an emphasis on leadership, moral values and philosophical ideals. Nikhil plays the lead role in this large-scale production featuring intense action, emotion and VFX, alongside Samyukta Menon and Nabha Natesh.
Adding to the excitement, the official teaser will launch on February 11, 2026 at a massive pan-India event being held simultaneously in two big cities (Hyderabad and Mumbai), which promises to be a buzz across the country.
*Swayambhu* was scheduled to release on February 13, 2026 (Mahashivratri), but was pushed to April 10, 2026, to ensure top-notch execution.
