Dahi Ragda Chaat: When you are hungry in the evening and feel like eating something spicy and light, then Dahi Ragda Chaat becomes a perfect option. The combination of ragda made from white peas, cold curd and spicy-sweet chutneys makes this chaat special. This is the reason why it remains included in the favorite list of street food lovers.

The good thing is that Dahi Ragda Chaat can be made very easily at home also. Ragda chaat prepared with the right spices and the right texture tastes exactly like the market, but is cleaner and healthier.

to make ragda

    • 1 cup dry white peas (soaked overnight)

 

    • 1 tsp ginger paste

 

    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

 

    • salt as per taste

 

    • 2 cups water

 

for licking

    • 1 cup thick whipped curd

 

    • 2 tbsp green chutney

 

    • 2 tbsp sweet tamarind chutney

 

    • 1 tsp red chilli powder

 

    • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder

 

    • 1/2 tsp chaat masala

 

    • finely chopped coriander

 

    • Sev (for garnish)

 

How to make Dahi Ragda Chaat

Step 1: Prepare Ragda
Put the soaked white peas in the pressure cooker. Add turmeric, ginger paste, salt and water and cook for 3-4 whistles. Let the peas melt well, then mash them lightly to form a crumbly texture.

Step 2: Make Ragda Spicy
Take out the cooked ragda in a pan and cook on medium flame while stirring for 5 minutes, so that it becomes slightly thick. If needed, you can add some more water.

Step 3: Prepare Curd
Beat the curd well in a bowl, so that it becomes smooth and creamy. If you want, you can add a pinch of salt and some sugar to it.

Step 4: Assemble the Chaat
First add hot ragda in serving bowl. Pour cold whipped curd over it. Now add green chutney and tamarind chutney.

Step 5: Spices and Garnish
Sprinkle red chili powder, roasted cumin powder and chaat masala on top. Finally garnish with green coriander and sev.

Tips for serving Dahi Ragda Chaat

The real fun of Dahi Ragda Chaat lies in the combination of hot Ragda and cold curd. If you wish, you can also add boiled potatoes or onions to it. To make it more healthy, keep the quantity of sev less.
