Jaunpur: Two policemen caught stealing iPhone, the entire incident was recorded in CCTV… this was the recce of the showroom.

Jaunpur: A case that puts Khaki to shame has come to light from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here, two constables very cleverly passed away an iPhone worth more than 1.25 lakhs in a famous mobile showroom located at JC’s intersection in Line Bazar police station area. This ‘digital theft’ of the policemen was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the showroom. After the video went viral, there was a stir in the police department, after which the SP City took immediate action and suspended both the accused.

Policemen were fooled by keeping iPhone 13 and taking iPhone 15 Pro Max

The incident took place on Saturday, when two constables entered the mobile showroom named Shivam Enterprises posing as customers. According to showroom owner Shivam, accused constables Dhananjay Bind and Mithilesh Yadav kept looking at different models in the shop for about 20 minutes. He already had an old iPhone 13 Pro. The constables, using their cunning mind, kept their old phone on the counter and as soon as they got the chance, they bought a shining phone worth Rs 1 lakh 62 thousand. iPhone 15 Pro Max Picked it up and kept it in his pocket.

Receipt of showroom was done through library connection

The shopkeeper told that one of the arrested soldiers used to come to study in a digital library located above the shop. During this time, he had done a complete recce of the showroom to find out which mobile was kept where and how was the arrangement of the shop. On Saturday, when the shopkeeper found the phone short while checking his stock, he checked the CCTV footage. In the camera, both the soldiers wearing police uniform were clearly seen stealing the mobile.

Panic in the department as soon as CCTV video went viral

The shopkeeper made the video of this incident viral on social media, after which the Jaunpur Police was heavily criticized. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, SP City Ayush Srivastava ordered an investigation. On Sunday itself, the police recovered the expensive mobile phone stolen from the constables and handed it over to the victim shopkeeper. On Tuesday, based on the investigation report, both the constables were suspended with immediate effect.

Departmental investigation and legal action started

SP City Ayush Srivastava said that there is no place for such indisciplined and criminal acts in the police department. A case has been registered against both the accused constables, Dhananjay Bind and Mithilesh Yadav. Along with the suspension, a departmental inquiry has also been instituted against him so that he can be given the harshest punishment. This incident has once again raised big questions on the functioning of the police and their ethical conduct.
