Don 3 controversy: Demand for compensation of Rs 40 crore from Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment face to face
New Delhi . Once again a big controversy is in the headlines in Bollywood. The ongoing discussions regarding the film Don 3 to be directed by Farhan Akhtar have now taken a legal and business turn. It is reported that after Ranveer Singh’s exit from the film, Farhan Akhtar’s production company Excel Entertainment has demanded a compensation of Rs 40 crore from the actor. This demand has been made on the basis of the alleged loss that is said to be caused due to the expenditure of time and resources in the pre-production of the film.
According to sources, Ranveer Singh had expressed his disagreement with the script of Don 3 and demanded many changes. It is being said that after not being able to agree on these changes, the actor decided to leave the film. At the same time, the production house claims that the pre-production work was started only after getting Ranveer’s approval, which involved huge expenditure and team appointments. In such a situation, the company has suffered financial loss due to the actor’s sudden separation from the project.
According to the report of Variety India, Excel Entertainment has demanded Rs 40 crore from Ranveer Singh as compensation for this loss. Not only this, the report also claims that due to the losses incurred by the company, some employees have been asked internally to leave their jobs. However, Ranveer Singh’s side is different. According to sources close to the actor, Ranveer is not ready to take responsibility for this loss and believes that being dissatisfied with the script and having creative differences is the right of any artist.
It is being told that last Friday there was a conversation between Ranveer Singh and the representatives of the production house for about two hours, but no solution could be found in this meeting. Now reports of Producers Guild of India’s involvement in this matter are also coming out, which indicates that the dispute may move towards formal arbitration or legal direction.
