On the occasion of completion of 150 years of composition of Vande Mataram, the Central Government has issued new guidelines for singing and playing of the national anthem. According to the Home Ministry, now singing or playing the official six parts of Vande Mataram will be mandatory in special government programs. Under the new protocol, Vande Mataram will be presented before and after the hoisting of the tricolor, arrival and departure of the President and Governors and address to the nation.
