Rajpal Yadav may come out soon, these stars came forward to help the comedy king

New Delhi: Rajpal Yadav, who made the audience laugh with his excellent comedy in films, is himself surrounded by difficulties these days. After not getting relief in the check bounce case of Rs 9 crore, he had to surrender in Tihar jail. After the strict stance of the court, the actor had to go to jail, which has created a stir among the film industry and his fans. This entire dispute is related to an old loan.

According to reports, Rajpal Yadav had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Private Limited in 2010 to make his film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. The film was not successful at the box office and it became difficult to repay the loan. After this, many checks given bounced, on which a case was registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

9 crores still outstanding

In October 2025, the court was told that two demand drafts of Rs 75 lakh had been deposited, but about Rs 9 crore was still outstanding. On 4 February 2026, the Delhi High Court refused to extend the stay on surrender and ordered him to report to jail on the same day. The next day the court also refused to change its decision.

Who extended a helping hand?

After the emotional statement given by Rajpal Yadav before going to jail, many people have come forward to help him. Rao Inderjit Singh announced legal assistance of Rs 1.11 crore on behalf of the Gem Tunes family. Janashakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav announced a donation of Rs 11 lakh.

Actor and film critic KRK talked about giving Rs 10 lakh. Gurmeet Chaudhary and Sonu Sood also assured help, although they did not disclose the amount. Till now, a total financial assistance of Rs 1.32 crore has been announced.

What was said about the release?

Rao Inderjit Singh told on social media that he has spoken to Rajpal Yadav’s younger brother. He says that if the required amount is not deposited by February 14, then he himself will deposit the remaining amount in the court so that the actor’s release can be possible by Mahashivratri.

Punishment has already been done

In 2018, a magistrate court had sentenced Rajpal Yadav and his wife to six months’ imprisonment. In 2019, the Sessions Court upheld this decision. However, in 2024, the Delhi High Court had put a temporary stay on the punishment and it kept being increased from time to time.

But this time the court showed strictness and implemented the surrender order. This legal battle of Rajpal Yadav is now at a new turn. On one hand there is the court’s decision, on the other hand the help from the film industry and politics can become a ray of hope for them.
