Father shoots daughter in Texas, painful death after debate on Trump and gun control
New Delhi: A sensational case has come to light from Texas, America, where the debate over President Donald Trump and the right to own guns took a violent turn. A few hours after this dispute, a father shot his own 23-year-old daughter, killing her on the spot.
According to media reports, Lucy Harrison, a resident of Britain, had gone to Texas to meet her father Chris Harrison. He died after being shot in the chest on January 10, 2025, near Dallas. This case came into limelight more than a year later, when a coroner’s investigation began in Britain.
Formal investigation started in Britain
More than a year after Lucy Harrison’s death, a formal investigation into the case was launched in Britain. According to the rules, a coroner’s inquest is held when a British citizen dies suddenly abroad. Under this process, the hearing took place in Cheshire Coroner’s Court.
Lucy had gone to meet her father during the holidays
According to information presented in court, fashion buyer Lucy Harrison of Warrington had gone to Texas with her boyfriend Sam Littler to meet her father during the holidays. Sam Littler told the court that Lucy and her father often argued over alcohol and gun ownership.
Debate over Donald Trump before the shooting
On the morning of the incident, when the couple was preparing to return to Britain, a heated argument broke out between Lucy and her father over Donald Trump.
According to Sky News, Littler said,"There was a huge argument between Chris and Lucy, due to which Lucy ran upstairs in anger."
He told the court that Lucy had asked her father,"How would you feel if I were in that situation and I was sexually harassed?"
According to Littler, Chris replied that his two other daughters live with him and it would not cause him much trouble. Lucy was hurt by this answer and left the room.
a loud bang was heard
Chris Harrison told the court that about half an hour before leaving for the airport, he took Lucy by the hand and took her to his bedroom.
Littler said he was downstairs when he heard gunshots.
He told during interrogation,"I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the bathroom entrance and Chris was just screaming, saying some nonsense,"
Emergency services were called, but Lucy Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of her death, she was working at fashion brand Boohoo.
Father talked about falling into alcohol addiction again
Chris Harrison, 51, did not attend the inquest in person, but submitted a written statement. He said that on the day of the incident, he had again fallen into alcohol addiction and had consumed almost an entire bottle of liquor.
In his statement he said that he and his daughter were watching a news related to gun crime. During this time he asked Lucy if she would like to see his gun. He took him to his bedroom to show him a Glock 9mm gun.
He said in his statement,"As soon as I picked up the gun to show him, suddenly I heard a loud bang. I didn’t understand what happened. Lucy immediately fell down,"
It was also told in court that Chris Harrison had previously received treatment for alcohol addiction.
