Sahibzada Farhan Talks India Clash After Pakistan Win
Sahibzada Farhan’s explosive batting performance enabled Pakistan to achieve their third consecutive victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating the USA through a 32-run victory at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Club on Tuesday.
Now Pakistan will play against India in their next group-stage game which will take place on February 15 and Farhan confirmed that his team plans to play with a new approach during this match.
During the post-match press conference Farhan maintained his dedication to preparing for the upcoming group-stage match against India. He said, “When you win two matches and are at the top of the table, you feel confident. The upcoming match is not such a big deal; we’re not playing against them for the first time. We’ve played before, and this time we’ll play with a different mindset,” according to the ICC.
Farhan scored 73 runs from 41 balls which included six fours and five sixes to establish Pakistan’s total of 190/9 while Shadab Khan’s all-round performance secured a complete win against the USA.
Farhan defined the target’s importance through his statement about the pitch conditions which he described as excellent whereas achieving 190 runs on such a field turned out to be a considerable achievement. “Over the last 5-6 months we have successfully reached 190 to 200 runs because we have dedicated ourselves to the task. We have put a lot of effort into it.”
The team achieved maximum success through their cooperative efforts because Smith said, “After the first over, I told Saim that you have to utilise the circle, just like I did. So 190, which I considered to be a proper score for this pitch, was an extremely good score.
The Pakistani batting team started their match against the USA by hitting aggressive shots through openers Saim Ayub and Farhan who scored more than 50 runs in the fifth over. The USA fought back through Shadley van Schalkwyk, who provided early breakthroughs by dismissing Ayub and captain Salman Agha, leaving Pakistan at 56/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Farhan constructed the innings again with Babar Azam when they built an 81-run partnership through their intelligent batting and quick running between the wickets. Azam reached 46 runs before Shadab Khan achieved his first T20 World Cup half-century through his explosive performance which produced 50 runs. Shadab Khan scored 30 runs through 12 balls to assist Pakistan in reaching their difficult target, but the team lost five players during their last overs to end their innings at 190/9.
The USA opened their chase of 191 runs with a strong performance because their opening batsmen scored 42 runs during the powerplay. Mohammad Nawaz broke the partnership through an early wicket while Shadab Khan achieved two crucial wickets which included his catch of Monank Patel who he dismissed through his bowling. The USA batsmen suffered permanent damage when Usman Tariq took three wickets which included two wickets he took in a row. Pakistan achieved a 32-run victory after their bowlers managed to contain Shubham Ranjane who scored 51 runs and Shayan Jahangir who scored 49 runs.
The answer to whether the expected India-Pakistan match will result in one team winning without opposition was explained by Farhan through his statement that the match would become better because their team had yet to experience a complete match.
Farhan explained his current performance level and confidence against India through the statement that his confidence grows when he scores runs because his last two games produced positive results which made him feel highly confident. The match will proceed normally as we treat it like any other game because we need to play it like an India-Pakistan match. The match will proceed as any other game because we treat it as a standard match.
Pakistan achieved their victory which brought them to first place in Group A because they won two matches and earned four points. The team needs to prepare for their upcoming match against India which will take place on Sunday.
