Violation of decorum in the temple of education, Sonbhadra incident

bureau report

Sonbhadra (Gurma) / Uttar Pradesh-

Such a shameful picture has emerged from Sonbhadra district of the state, which has shocked the education world. While on one hand we are talking about character building through the new education policy, on the other hand all limits of decorum were crossed in an intermediate college located in Gurma. The lewdness that was served in the name of the puja festival and farewell ceremony of Mother Saraswati, the goddess of learning, has put the school management in the dock.

According to the incident, during the farewell ceremony in the school premises, DJ was played at high volume. Surprisingly, instead of devotional or motivational songs, students were seen dancing to obscene Bhojpuri songs in the educational institution. The limit was reached when the students publicly took off their shirts and danced in an indecent manner, half naked. This act is an insult to Mother Saraswati as well as a big stain on the dignity of education. This incident has raised many bitter questions before the society.

Is all this possible in the presence of the principal and teachers? Did the school administration try to stop this obscenity or were they themselves a part of it? Does the farewell ceremony now mean only noise and indiscipline? The anger of the local people is not limited to this dance only.

The villagers allege that suspicious activities have been going on under the guise of this school for a long time. People are demanding that there should be a high level investigation into the internal activities of this institute so that any unethical work going on in the name of education can be exposed. This incident cannot be suppressed merely by calling it the naivety of the children.

Concrete steps will have to be taken for this. The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) should immediately take cognizance and start the process of de-recognition of the school. The local police should register an FIR for spreading obscenity in a public place and violating noise pollution rules. If strict action is not taken on this today, then in the future other educational institutions will also promote such anarchy.

The basic objective of education is not just to distribute degrees but to prepare a civilized citizen. If the educational institutions themselves lose their dignity, then how can we expect manners and morality from the coming generation? It is time that the society and the government together open a front against such traders of education and maintain the sanctity of the temples of learning.
