Lookism Season 2: What we know so far about renewal status, release date, cast and story
The anime adaptation of Lookism continues to be one of the hottest properties in the world of OTT due to its raw honesty in dealing with issues such as bullying, how we look, discrimination based on looks, and the struggles associated with finding one’s true identity through the eyes of Daniel Park (the lead character). Viewers remain excited for Season 2 of Lookism as they anticipate even more intense and thrilling fight scenes, greater rivalries between gangs, character development, and more mystery behind what happens when Daniel and friends switch bodies. All of this continues to build off of the compelling school drama and social commentary found in Season 1 of Lookism, which was a breakout success when it debuted on Netflix in 2022.
Netflix, Studio Mir, or any of their production partners have yet to officially renew Lookism for a second season as of February 2026.
The series debuted in December 2021 with eight episodes and is still classified as a one-season anime collection on Netflix. Since then, no announcements have been made regarding a renewal, production update, teaser, or schedule.
Lookism Season 2 Release Date Speculations
There is nothing yet confirmed regarding why this is happening. Based on anime industry standard production timelines (generally 18 months – 3+ years), any potential new seasons of shows that were immediate renewals would likely be available sometime between late 2024 and 2025, but could feasibly be out later than that due to a lack of base material remaining to be made into episodes.
The folklore concerning a 2025 Crunchyroll renewal for Lookism is most certainly incorrect and has no basis in reality. Lookism is an exclusive title on Netflix and is not being streamed or reproduced by Crunchyroll at all.
Lookism Season 2 Expected Cast
Because Season 2 has not been greenlitthere are no confirmed cast announcements.
If renewed, the series would likely retain the original Korean voice cast from Season 1, including:
- Shim Kyu-hyuck as Park Hyung-seok / Daniel Park
- Han Shin
- Ryu Seung-gone
- Jeong Jae-heon
- Nam Doh-hyeong
No new voice actors or casting changes have been announced.
Lookism Season 2 Potential Plot
Currently, there is no official outline for the second season of the anime series. The first season adapts the first few story arcs of the running webcomic (started in 2018) written by Park Tae-joon. The first season has focused primarily on Daniel Park’s two-body existence and has explored themes of bullying, looksism, and identity within a high school setting.
Season 2 will almost certainly move deeper into the source material, getting into storylines involving gang conflicts, underground fighting, and the emergence of the Four Major Crews.
Recurring story arcs fans have mentioned include Hostel, God Dog, and the expansion of character backstories such as Vasco, Zack, Jay, Johan, and Gun. While there is a mythos involving Daniel’s ability to switch bodies may become more important.
The source webcomic is still ongoing with hundreds of chapters (and counting); however, the fact that it continues to be published does not guarantee that the anime will also continue.
