New arrangement for confirmed seat in Vande Bharat! Applied ‘EQ’ Kota, emergency travelers get relief

Vande Bharat Train Emergency Quota: There is news of great relief for the passengers traveling by train. Indian Railways has decided to implement emergency quota in Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat sleeper trains. Railway Board has issued an order in this regard, which will increase the chances of passengers getting a seat or berth if they have to travel suddenly.

Till now only women quota, disabled quota, senior citizen quota and duty pass quota were applicable in these trains. But now, in special circumstances, a separate emergency quota will be kept for passengers, which can be adjusted as per the need. Under the emergency quota, seats are available only to certain people or passengers recommended by them.

What is the motive of Railways behind this decision?

According to the order of the Railway Board, in Amrit Bharat trains which have 7 or more sleeper coaches, a total emergency quota of 24 berths has been fixed. Its purpose is to make it easier for passengers traveling suddenly to get tickets.

Class wise quota in Vande Bharat sleeper trains

Emergency quota has been fixed for different classes in Vande Bharat sleeper trains. There will be a quota of 4 berths in First AC on weekdays and 6 berths on weekends. In Second AC, 20 berths have been fixed on weekdays and 30 berths on weekends. Whereas in Third AC, emergency quota of 24 berths will be kept on weekdays and 42 berths on weekends.

When will the new rule come into effect?

According to Railways, this emergency quota will be implemented from the advance reservation period or no booking date, whichever is earlier. That means, as soon as the tickets are opened in the system, seats will be reserved under this quota.
