Diet and lifestyle for health in spring

health care in spring

Spring Health: In Ayurveda, the importance of taking diet according to the seasons has been emphasized. To stay healthy, it is necessary to follow Ritucharya, which helps in balancing the body’s doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). In Ayurveda, diet is classified according to 6 seasons.

In spring, it is essential to obtain vitamin D from adequate sunlight and increase outdoor activities. In this season, due to phlegm and weak digestion power, one should eat light, digestible and nutritious food. Consume barley, gram, moong dal, green vegetables (like bottle gourd, parwal, spinach), neem shoots, and ginger-honey. Avoid fried, sweet, sour and cold foods, and have dinner by 8 pm.

It is advised to consume old wheat, barley, gram and millet in this season. Use ginger, garlic, black pepper, asafoetida, cumin, and turmeric. Consume green vegetables like bitter gourd, bottle gourd, parwal, fenugreek, bathua, and radish. Waking up early in the morning and chewing new buds of bitter neem with black pepper is beneficial for health.
By adopting these suggestions, you can remain healthy and cough-free in this season.
