Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday (February 11) addressed the Lok Sabha. Speaking about Budget 2026-27, she said the Centre is willing to work with states to set up mega textile parks. She added that the Budget has sought to boost animal husbandry, farming, and fisheries.
Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, speaking in the House on the India-US interim trade deal, claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “sold the nation”. “India’s tariffs hiked from 3 per cent to 18 per cent, while that of the United States came down from 16 per cent to zero per cent,” he said. He also alleged that the Indian textile industry is “finished”.
