In the trailer, Dr Scarpetta is assigned the case of examining the victims of a serial killer. As she comes closer to discovering who the murderer is, she notices patterns of her first case, repeating in the proceedings of the current one. Uncertain about whether or not to dig up the bygone case, fearing old secrets getting unraveled, Scarpetta is advised by her co-workers to relieve herself of her duties and “never look back.” It doesn’t help that her sister Dorothy, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, isn’t approving of her revisiting the past either — “It’s a barrel of monkeys, I would not want popping open,” she tells Scarpetta.
The TV series, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, is written and developed by Liz Sarnoff. The series also stars Ariana DeBose, Rosy McEwen, Jake Cannavale, Hunter Parrish and Amanda Righetti. Nicole Kidman, the lead, was last seen in Holland (2025) and is awaiting the release of her next TV series Margot’s Got Money Troubles.
