On India-Russia relations, the spokesperson said that there is continuous cooperation between the two countries in many fields. This includes important areas like trade, cultural exchange and defense cooperation. He clarified that all these dimensions of bilateral relations will continue to strengthen in future also.

Talks with China and support on UNSC

Jaiswal said that the recent visit of China’s Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs to India was in the context of the BRICS Sherpa meeting (8 to 10 February, Delhi). During this, he held strategic talks with the Foreign Secretary.

Peace on the border and progress in bilateral relations were discussed in the talks. He also informed that the Chinese representative has said that China understands and respects India’s expectations for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

India’s response to Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ proposal

India has received an invitation to join the ‘Board of Peace’ proposed by US President Donald Trump. On this Jaiswal said that India is reviewing this proposal.

He said that India has always supported efforts to promote peace, stability and dialogue in West Asia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed this initiative.

NSA Ajit Doval’s visit to Canada

On NSA Ajit Doval’s visit to Ottawa, the spokesperson said that he met his Canadian counterpart. The meeting was part of ongoing cooperation on security matters.

On the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will visit India from 18 to 22 February 2026. He will participate in the second AI Summit organized in Delhi on 19-20 February.

Bilateral talks will be held between India and Brazil on 21 February. President Lula will also be accompanied by several ministers and a business delegation. During this period various programs and business meetings will be organized.
