No bail to Rajpal Yadav, reprimand from Delhi High Court; “You are in jail because of your own promises..

Delhi High Court has rejected the bail plea of actor Rajpal Yadav in cases related to check bounce and loan payment. During the hearing on Thursday, Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma reprimanded Rajpal and said that going to jail was his own fault. Rajpal had appealed to the court to grant him bail as there was a marriage in his family. Rejecting this request, the court proceeded with the hearing and fixed the next hearing on the bail plea for Monday. This means that Rajpal Yadav will have to stay in Tihar jail for a few more days.

Rajpal will remain in jail for a few more days

Delhi High Court has expressed displeasure over the bail plea of actor Rajpal Yadav in a decade and a half old loan case and directed to keep him in Tihar jail for a few more days. The court expressed concern over the fact that Rajpal had assured several times that he would repay the money to the complainant, but this has not happened till now. During the hearing, Rajpal’s lawyer made a statement that the money would be given, but the court said that the same is being said again today. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma, before the break, asked the lawyer to make up his mind on paying the money.

Rajpal was reprimanded

The court hearing resumed after 2:30 pm. Rajpal’s lawyer said that he tried to contact Rajpal several times, but was not successful. After this the bail application was filed. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma reprimanded, saying, “Rajpal has gone to jail because he did not keep his own promise. At least two dozen times it was said that he would give the money, but till now it has not happened.” The court fixed Monday for next hearing and asked the other side to file a reply to the bail application.

Rajpal’s niece is married

In the bail application, Rajpal told that there is a wedding in his family on 19th February. He has been invited as the chief guest in the wedding of his brother Shripal Yadav’s daughter. This application was filed in the court for permission to attend his wedding. However, Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma slammed him saying Rajpal is in jail because he did not follow through on his promises, and the payment was not made despite giving assurances two dozen times.

A look at the whole matter

In 2010, Rajpal had taken Rs 5 crore from a Delhi businessman to make a film. However, he made the film but it flopped. After the failure of the film, pressure to return the money increased, and check bounce cases were filed against Rajpal. In 2018, the Magisterial Court convicted him and sentenced him to 6 months in jail. In 2019, the Seychelles Court also upheld this decision. After this, Rajpal promised to pay the money several times, but gradually the outstanding amount increased. Ultimately he surrendered citing lack of money and went to Tihar Jail on 5 February 2026.
