E-SIM Fraud: Mumbai woman lost Rs 11 lakh after falling prey to E-SIM, fraudsters active in the name of 8th Pay Commission too
Mumbai Fraudsters keep adopting new methods to empty people’s bank accounts. Sometimes by asking for OTP, sometimes by pretending to be a close friend through AI and asking for a loan and sometimes by threatening digital arrest, fraudsters have been making innocent people their victims and withdrawing lakhs of rupees from their accounts. Now fraudsters have also adopted the e-SIM method of fraud. A swindler withdrew Rs 11 lakh from a Mumbai woman’s bank account by luring her with an e-SIM. Apart from this, information has also come to light through social media that even in the name of the Eighth Pay Commission, fraudsters are trying to fool people and embezzle money from their bank accounts. Therefore, be careful about this also.
One day a woman from Mumbai got a call. The thug who made the call introduced himself as an employee of a telecom company. He tricked the woman into upgrading to e-SIM. The woman fell into the trap of that swindler. Then an OTP came in the message box of the woman’s mobile. As soon as she told this OTP, the thug activated the woman’s mobile number on his e-SIM. After which all the OTPs for withdrawing money from the bank kept reaching the fraudster and by the time the woman came to know, she had lost lakhs of rupees. According to the woman, as soon as she gave the OTP to the thug, her mobile network went out.

In e-SIM fraud, a fraudster calls the customer pretending to be a customer care officer of a mobile service company. Then he scares that the company’s SIM in the phone is going to be switched off. The fraudster deceives that in exchange for this SIM card, he will activate the phone on e-SIM for better 5G network. After luring people with this, a QR code or link is sent. When clicked, the SIM installed in the mobile of the person concerned stops working. At the same time, the number is activated in the thug’s mobile through e-SIM. After which they are successful in clearing the bank accounts of the cheated person.
