Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s confrontation with the umpire cost him dearly, ICC sentenced him

Mohammad Nabi fined by ICC : Afghanistan’s all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s exclusion from the umpire in the T20 World Cup match against South Africa has proved costly. For which ICC has fined the Afghan player. Played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, this match reached the super over. Where South Africa registered victory.

According to a statement issued by the ICC, Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group D match against South Africa. Nabi was found guilty of breaching Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff, which relates to “disobeying the direction of an umpire during an international match”.

The incident took place at the start of the 14th over of Afghanistan’s innings, where Nabi clashed with the umpires over the wrist band of South African pacer Lungi Ngidi. The match ended in thrilling circumstances as South Africa recorded a narrow victory over Nabi’s team after two dramatic Super Overs.
