Haryana Government pollution A big decision has been taken regarding control and road safety (Tourist Vehicle Rules). Now tourist vehicles older than 12 years will not be able to operate anywhere in the state. The rules have been made even stricter, especially in the National Capital Region (NCR), where the maximum age of diesel-powered tourist vehicles has been fixed at 10 years.
According to the Transport Department, only those petrol and CNG based tourist vehicles whose registration is not more than 12 years will be able to run in the 14 districts falling under NCR. At the same time, it will be mandatory to remove diesel tourist vehicles from the roads after completion of 10 years.
Different rules in NCR and non-NCR districts
Out of total 23 districts of Haryana, 14 districts come under NCR (Tourist Vehicle Rules). These include Karnal, Jind, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Faridabad, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Nuh and Palwal.
While 9 districts are outside NCR, which include Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Sirsa, Kaithal, Hansi, Fatehabad and Ambala.
A maximum limit of 12 years has also been set for petrol and CNG based tourist vehicles in districts outside NCR, but diesel vehicles have been given an additional relief of two years here. This means that diesel tourist vehicles will be able to run for 12 years in non-NCR districts.
Transport Department issued revised rules
Haryana Motor Vehicle Amendment Rules have been issued by Dr. Raja Shekhar Vundru, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Transport Department. Under these rules, clear age limits have been set for school buses as well as roadways, private buses, contract carriage and goods carriage category vehicles.
Seizure action after the prescribed limit
According to the new rules, no vehicle will be allowed to ply on the road after the completion of the prescribed period from the date of its first registration.
Petrol, CNG, Electric and other clean fuel vehicles: Up to 15 years
Diesel vehicles (in NCR): Up to 10 years
Diesel Vehicle (Non-NCR): Up to 15 years
School buses and diesel buses will not be able to run in NCR for more than 10 years (Tourist Vehicle Rules). A provision has been made to confiscate on the spot the vehicles that have completed the stipulated time.
The government says that this decision is an important step towards reducing pollution, increasing passenger safety and modernizing the transport system.
