NEET student death case: CBI files FIR, will take entire case from SIT
The case of suspicious death of a student preparing for NEET in Patna, the capital of Bihar, has now gained prominence at the national level. Central investigating agency CBI has registered an FIR in this high-profile case and is preparing to collect all the documents from Bihar SIT. This investigation, which started in Chitragupta Nagar police station, has now reached the central level.
In the month of January, this student from Jehanabad was studying for NEET while staying in Shambhu Girls Hostel. His sudden death under suspicious circumstances shook the whole of Bihar. The family members made serious allegations against the police and hostel management, which triggered a fierce confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties.
Under pressure from the family, Bihar Police formed SIT. The post-mortem report further complicated the case, not ruling out the possibility of sexual abuse. Traces of sperm were found on the innerwear of the student, after which DNA samples of many people including relatives were taken, but no match was found.
Questions were raised on the hospitals of Patna, public anger erupted on the streets and political parties became active. After the family members met the DGP, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary announced the recommendation for a CBI investigation on social media.
During the budget session in the Bihar Legislative Council, Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi made a sensational allegation that a minister’s son might be involved. The Deputy CM challenged that if evidence is given, action will be taken within 24 hours. Now with the entry of CBI the hopes of justice have become stronger.
